Basic Kids Workshops run 10am-12noon. £7 per child, per session. Booking is essential; please book as soon as possible as there are only 10 places per course. Workshops are for children only, no adults, and participants must be 7yrs+ Please note separate charges apply for longer/special courses.
Making Space is now also a verified learning destination for The Children’s University. The Children’s University is a national organisation that encourages, promotes and rewards children for attending out of school activities like the workshops at Making Space! Tie-Dye T-Shirts
with Ami Lowman
Get creative with different techniques and create your very own funky tie-dyed T-shirt
Wednesday 15-February
Fused Glass
with Kate O’Connell
(For 9yrs+) Assemble and glue broken pieces of coloured glass together to create a picture on a small tile/coaster. Work will need to be fired and collected after the workshop.
Friday 17 February
Mini Wire Sculptures
with Sharon Justice
Have a go at making small wire sculptures or pendants by manipulating wire. Different colours and embellishments can be added for more decoration!
Easter Activities
Tuesday 3 April
Fimo Creations
with Sharon Justice
Design and make your own miniature figurines using Fimo, a coloured modelling clay. The models you make will need to be taken home and ‘fired’ in your oven!
Wednesday 4 April
Mosaic Pictures
with Kate O’Connell
A popular workshop where you can design and make a mosaic by smashing up old crockery.
Wednesday 11 April
Batik Bags
with Ami Lowman
A great textile technique of drawing with hot wax. Create a resist on the bag then fill in the spaces with fabric paints. Leave with a colourful printed bag of your own design!
Thursday 12 April
Hand Puppets
with Ami Lowman
Get to grips with basic sewing techniques and design and make your own fabric hand puppet. Go traditional and make an Easter bunny/chick or do something totally different like a monster or alien!
