Open Access Jewellery & Ceramics

A Fantastic oppertunity to come and get on with your own work, network & further your skills…

Open Access is about enabling people with some experience to make self-directed work. Practice your skills including those learnt on previous Making Space courses with an experienced brain on hand in both jewellery and ceramics. Yoou will need to bring your own materials but the cost of each day covers the use of our equipment.

The cost is £25 per Saturday for which the space will be available 10am-3pm. Alternatively book 3 sessions for £60. Individula kiln firings are and extra (£10 per firing)

Advanced Jewellery

An ongoing advanced course for participants who have a reasonble level of experience. Individual student projects will be catered for on a one to one basis.

Thursday evenings 7pm-9pm. £85 for 10-week course, excludes materials

Fused Glass

Mondays 7, 14, 21, 28 June, 5 July

A great follow on for people who attended the 5-wk beginners course or people who have some experience with glass. Further your work and create more intricate and interesting pieces as well as trying some other new techniques. Most materials will be included in the cost, however if you want extra glass you will be able to purchase some from the tutor.

Introduction to Gilding

Mondays 7, 14, 21 June

This course is designed to be a fun and informative introduction to the craft of gilding. Suitable for beginners or those looking to brush up on their skills with an interest in restoration or home projects. It is also great for the craftsperson or designer looking to broaden their range of skills. Gold and metal leaf can be used for decorative effect in many ways, its not just for historical objects! It can be applied to any surface so why not have a go. The three evenings will cover basic techniques, such as how to apply gold leaf, types of materials and the oil and water gilding processes. You will be able to produce a range of decorative items to take home and give you inspiration.

Patchwork for Beginners

Mondays 7, 14, 21, 28 June, 5 July

Over this 5 week course you’ll learn all the basics of patchwork! we’ll show you how to rotary cut and stitch an assortment of traditional patchwork blocks in you choice of traditional or funky fabrics to make beautiful items for your home. Turn your blocks into cushions, runners, wall hangers or save them and turn them into a quilt!

Mastering Photography

Saturdays 12 & 26 June

with Compulsive Productions

This is a must for anyone wanting to improves their camera skills! This 2-day master class is run by Paul from Compulsive productions, a digital video production company and Making Space studio tenant. Over the course you will cover all the basic technical skills required to capture the perfect picture. In the time between the 2 workshop days, you will be set 5 photography challenges to complete for the second day, which covers editing and manipulating your photographs and further avenues you might want to take. Participants must bring their own camera (with some manual control) and the instructions if you have them. Paul Gonella Photography.
