Making Space is delighted to announce phase 2 of Crafting Respite. With generous funding from The National Lottery Awards for All Programme we have been able to offer this wonderful opportunity for local carers which will help our community creatively thrive.
Crafting Respite is a project designed specifically for those that have significant, long-term care responsibilities for a loved one (parent, spouse or child). Over the next 2 years Making Space will work with 25 participants a year.
We know that those with caring responsibilities have varying availability dependant on the needs of the person they are caring for. To ensure maximum engagement, each participant will receive the opportunity to access our creative programme. There will be the opportunity to pick and choose from a variety of craft forms and get to experience a mix of our 5-week courses and Monthly Masterclasses. They will also be invited to join us for a private view and tour of our Hampshire Open Studios Summer event and launch of our Winter Craft Fair; Make Merry.
Crafting is a revisiting and repeating skill, so we want to ensure regular opportunities to engage and to build the sense of community! Once we have enough people enrolled we will programme in the half day workshops at times / dates everyone can attend. This project will provide a range of opportunities for Carers to get creative with Making Space.
The project is completely free to carers to access thanks to generous funding from The Awards for All programme. Sessions will give those attending some quality 'me time' enabling them a safe space to relax and get creative with a group of others to understand how difficult life can be when caring for another.
We have guidelines in place for those wanting to attend. If you are interested in applying please complete the form below. Priority will be given to full time carers and those that have long time care commitments. We will review all applications and will be in touch if you qualify.
