Making Space is delighted to launch Creative Futures – Craft Pathways.
An inspiring 2-year project funded by The Peter Harrison Foundation.
Following on from previous successful youth projects, that all engaged, upskilled and inspired creative young people from the local areas, this new project has been designed to transform potential into opportunity by empowering young creatives to shape fulfilling futures in the arts and creative industries.
Creative Futures – Craft Pathways will support young creatives to develop skills and confidence, illuminate and open doors to further education, apprenticeships, work experience and employment leading to careers in the creative industries.
Open to young people ages 16-25 (including those with SEN), participants will receive hands-on professional tuition in a variety of creative disciplines and gain access to professional equipment in an environment that supports them fully. Tutors will also provide valuable references and knowledge that they can take forward with them into further education, apprenticeships or employment.
The project will also include tailored, hands-on support and mentoring bespoke to each beneficiary. These sessions could include skills in portfolio development, professional personal mentoring, interview training, application writing and guidance overcoming a variety of challenges.

Over the 2-year period we will deliver the following outcomes:
- 40 young people aged 16-25 accessing the project (20 a year)
- 400 hours of practical skills development / technical sessions (10 hours per student)
- Up to 120hrs of 1-2-1 guidance sessions
- Bespoke resource packs created and shared with those involved
