NAVAL CHILDRENS CHARITY WORKSHOPS

Making Space is delighted to have partnered with The Naval Children's Charity to offer a creative opportunities for children of Naval families. From May 2026 to February 2027 we are hosting a series of creative workshops at Making Space which children can attend for FREE!

Selling events 2026

Making Space will host 2 selling events in 2026. If you'd like to join us for Hampshire Open Studios in August or Make Merry in November here are the details you need.

The associate makers at Making Space are having a Spring Clean Craft Sale. We will be selling craft materials, end of line stock, seconds and prototypes. Get materials for your next big project, find quality makes at a discounted prices and importantly stop these items going to waste. So come along and grab a bargain!

Join us from 21 - 23 November for our wonderfully festive Winter Craft Fair Make Merry! More details coming soon!

What a brilliant sunny weekend we had in August 2025 for our annual Open Studio Event. Close to 200 people joined us and our resident makers for a creative weekend.

Join us at Making Space as we host another inspiring maker-curated winter craft market. Following the success of the last two years we will once again be transforming Making Space and over three days will host makers showcasing innovative and beautiful crafts and perfect handmade presents. We will also have festive refreshments available and some merry music! Free entry!

Making Space was thrilled to be a part of POSE 2024, working together with some of our talented associate and resident makers. Visitors could find us at Casemates Studio where we will be hosting an inspiring Pop-Up shop, craft market, mini exhibiton and a series of exciting workshops! hampshire open studios 2024

In Summer 2024 Making Space joined up with Hampshire Open Studios and opened our doors over a weekend in August.  Over the course of Open Studios visitors were able to meet, chat to and buy from our resident makers who will all be in their studios. We also hosted a Pop-Up shop in our Jewellery Studio, an exhibition in our corridor and a series of taster workshops. Join us in 2025 for our next Hampshire Open Studios event.

country makers market 2024

In April 2024 Making Space hosted our first ever Country Maker’s Market at Storey Gardens which can be found within the grounds of Staunton Country Park. 
We selected a variety of talented local makers and sold their work from the Barn in Storey Gardens. 
From ceramics, to jewellery, skincare items, illustrations and textiles, there was something for everyone. In addition to the pop up market we also hosted 2 family ceramic workshops.

international women's day 2024

On the eve of International Women’s Day, Making Space hosted an inclusive and creative evening celebrating women in craft. We ran a series of activities including a ceramic goddess workshop with Kelly Ottesen, a female form illustration workshop with Wood & Daughters and an exhibition by Alison Baxter which featured vessels inspired by stories of grandmothers.

In November 2023 Making Space hosted another inspiring maker-curated winter craft market. Following the success of last year we transformed Making Space over three days to welcome makers showcasing innovative and beautiful crafts and perfect handmade presents. We also had festive refreshments and some merry music!

4x6 - exhibition

Making Space organised an exciting exhibition raising funds for Creative Communities in Leigh Park. The exhibition featured a diverse collection of 4×6″ sized artworks in a variety of mediums from artists across the UK.
The exhibition will be open to the public  for free and all artworks were sold anonymously.

10 year reach out celebration exhibition

To celebrate 10 years of running our Reach Out programme we hosted a celebratory exhibiton featuring work, photos, video screenings and comments from particiapants and parents both past and present.
The exhibition was an opportunity to look back on all that was achieved over the last decade and truly celebrate the creative achievements of those involved.

meet the maker - kathryn green

Making Space hosted an inspiring and informative evening event for Portsdown Art Society. Resident maker Kathryn Green hosted a shibori masterclass and gave a discussion to the group.

In November Making Space hosted our first ever Make Merry event - a maker-curated winter craft fair which celebrated local makers.
