RESIDENTIAL STUDIOS

Our seven residential studios are intended as start-up spaces for makers at the outset of their professional practice, but from time to time more established artists take up residency as well. Each studio is approximately 16m square, and these are let for a minimum of one year up to a maximum of five. Tenancy includes 24/7 access, metered electricity, parking, wifi and all the benefits of being part of a thriving creative community. 

HIRE CREATIVE SPACE

If you're looking to host a one-off or regular event, organise a maker meet-up, host an exhibition, need a suitable space to run your own craft workshop or simply need a bigger space every now and again to make your own work, then Making Space may just be your space!

In addition to our individual studios we also have two large fully equipped spaces that are available for hire. 
We have different rates available depending on your requirements: whether you're happy to co-work with others, or prefer to have the whole space for yourself. You can also hire our specialist equipment and tools at an additional cost.

Our spaces are available at the rates listed below during term time on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10am-3pm.
We can accomodate extended hours and other days of the week in the breaks between our creative programme. Longer hire rates are also negotiable. Please read on to find out more and get in touch with more details if you'd like to hire a space with us.

CRAFT STUDIO

Large, light and airy - In the middle of the room there are two large tables on coasters which can be moved depending on your needs with high stools / chairs. There is also a large sink in the room which can be used.

Hirers must bring all their own materials. ​Specialist tools and equipment can also be used at an additional cost.

JEWELLERY STUDIO

Our Jewellery studio features ten jewellery benches each with a bench hook and individual gas supply. There's lots of professional equipment including a harth, polisher and rolling mills which are included in the hire price.

Induction | £25 | 1-2hrs 
 An induction is mandatory for all new users.

WANT TO RUN A WORKSHOP?
We can also accommodate those wanting to run a workshop - either open to the public or as a private group. Rates will differ depending on the activity and cost of your workshop, please get in touch as we'd love to discuss this with you further. For workshops open to the public, we call these Guest Workshops and are happy to advertise these online to help with marketing

equipment hire

In addition to our spaces you can also hire our extensive professional equipment and make use of various creative services we have available. Please read on to find out more and get in touch if you'd like to discuss anything.

kiln firing

Making Space has two ceramic kilns, a glass kiln and an enamelling kiln. We support makers by providing a kiln firing service throughout the year enabling you to fire your own work made at home / in your studio. If you would like to book a kiln firing please email our kiln technician using the button below. She also offers 1hr 121 consultation sessions for £35 if you need advice / guidance. All firers will need to fill in a firing form. You can download the form below, or collect and fill out in person when you drop off.
